Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the counseling link take me to a different page?

I utilize Simple Practice for all of my scheduling, billing, and means of contact with patients. Simple Practice is HIPAA compliant Electronic Health Record platform. It allows me to not only secure your personal health information, but also facilitate confidential video/telehealth sessions among other capabilities. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions related to this concern.

What insurance do you take?

I am currently paneled with Cigna, NC Medicaid, Tricare, United Health Care (UHC), and BCBS.
*Private pay also accepted
**Sliding Scale based on household income and size

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

Sliding scale is available dependent upon family size and income. Please contact me for additional details to see if you may qualify.

How long does each therapy session take?

A psychotherapy session can last anywhere from 30 minutes to longer depending on the need of the client. This will be determined prior to your first session and will be reviewed often throughout the therapeutic relationship. Please allow at least 90 minutes for first session which is usually called an intake.

**Some insurance plans/providers only allow 45 minute sessions. Again, this would be discussed prior to beginning therapy.

Do you supervise graduate student interns?

I do not currently supervise graduate student interns. As the practice grows I may revisit this added service. Please do not hesitate to contact me to see how I may assist you with finding a site.

Do you have an office that we can meet at?

At this time, my practice is 100% telehealth. There are times when a client would benefit from sole in-person sessions. It is at this time that I refer the client to another provider, or contact the insurance provider to explore other viable options.

What To Expect At Your Visit

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process, a journey, that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.
